After graduating I stayed in Manchester and worked for an organisation called SureStart as a Playworker and then as a Family Support Worker. Where I also completed my NVQ Level 3 in Eary Years Childcare.

I also spent a month in the Philippines spending time with a charity who have a children’s home and support street families in Manila.

I have been at the Firs since 2010? (Maybe longer Jo I can’t remember!!) during this time I have had both my children!

Outside of school I also love helping run a Toddler group and evening Kids club at my local church.

MILLE BIRBECK

Seedlings Practitioner

After finishing my degree at Oxford Brookes I started my journey into the education industry and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Every day is different no matter which age I have worked with. Since joining the Firs in 2015 I have worked with children aged 1-7. When I first started I worked in our Kindergarten which is now ‘Fir Cones’ and from there I went into Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and now I’ve come full circle back to the little ones!

Fun fact about me….I came to this school as a child so it’s amazing to be back working here as a grown up!

After graduating from Bangor University with a Psychology (BSc) degree in 2013, I went on to obtain a Diploma in Maternal and Infant Health from The University of Manchester. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for child development.

Since then, my roles have included Early Years Practitioner and Nanny where I have worked predominately with children aged 0-5. I’m so happy to be joining Fir Cones, where I can help care for and support and the youngest members of the Firs Family.

I graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2013, with a Psychology BSc (hons) degree. After this, whilst working, I did volunteer work for children's charity's which sparked my passion for working with children. This drove me to pursue a career in Education and I obtained my Level 2 STALS certificate at The Queens School in Chester. In 2018, I joined The Firs School where I completed a Level 3 Diploma in Specialist STALS. I love being apart of the Firs, as it holds many positive values that I admire, such as being a part of a family, which is very important to me.
